The               start               of               the               season               was               a               bit               nervy               for               Tottenham               supporters               as               Villas-Boas               and               his               squad               worked               on               their               chemistry,               and               Spurs               losing               both               Luka               Modric               and               Rafael               van               der               Vaart               during               the               transfer               window               certainly               didn't               help               matters.

Players               and               manager               alike               adapted               as               the               season               progressed,               however,               and               Villas-Boas               eventually               settled               on               a               first               choice               goalkeeper               (Lloris               over               Brad               Friedel)               and               a               starting               eleven               that's               capable               of               hanging               with               any               other               side               in               the               EPL.

I               won't               pretend               that               AVB               has               been               flawless               since               taking               over               at               Spurs,               but               even               his               biggest               critics               have               to               admit               that               Tottenham               sure               look               like               a               top-four               side               at               the               end               of               December.

Aaron               Lennon               is               perhaps               playing               the               best               football               of               his               career               under               his               new               boss,               and               Jermain               Defoe               is               on               pace               to               score               over               20               goals               across               all               competitions.

One               could               argue               that               the               mark               is               either               a               bit               harsh               or               a               little               too               generous,               but               I               have               no               problem               giving               Villas-Boas               a               B+               thus               far.

2012               Tottenham               Hotspur               midseason               review:               Overall

Usually               you               can               read               teams               by               this               stage               of               the               season.

United,               City               and               Chelsea               are               all               capable               of               finishing               in               the               top               three,               while               QPR,               Reading,               Southampton,               Aston               Villa               and               Wigan               all               appear               to               be               headed               toward               relegation               battles.

Perhaps               the               most               frustrating               thing               about               Spurs               right               now               is               that               I'm               still               not               sure               what               to               think               about               this               team's               quality.

Are               they               a               middle-of-the-road               side               that               will               struggle               to               defeat               the               likes               of               City,               Arsenal,               Stoke               and               even               Newcastle,               or               are               they               really               a               Champions               League               team               that's               finally               finding               their               form?

I               honestly               cannot               adequately               answer               that               question               right               now,               and               that               makes               me               both               nervous               and               excited               about               what               is               to               come.
