About 'football transfer news chelsea'|Chelsea Transfer News: Blues Smart to Make 1 More Bid for Wayne Rooney

Clearly,               Norwich               City               has               had               a               significant               upturn               in               fortunes               during               the               last               few               Premier               League               games.

This               has               included               home               wins               against               Arsenal,               Stoke,               and               credible               away               draws               against               Aston               Villa,               Reading.
Taking               those               eight               points               from               a               possible               12               has               been               a               cause               of               major               relief               in               Norfolk.

Fans               are               starting               to               see               that               Chris               Hughton               is               establishing               his               team               on               a               very               solid               base.

After               heavy               defeats               to               Fulham,               Liverpool               and               Chelsea               earlier               in               the               season,               the               team               now               has               three               clean               sheets               from               their               last               four               games.
The               only               slight               concern               is               the               fact               that               the               team               has               only               scored               three               goals               in               that               run               of               fixtures               mentioned               in               the               last               four               league               games.

Hughton               seems               convinced               that               any               one               of               the               current               struggling               teams               are               capable               to               hitting               such               a               run               of               form.
Although,               this               might               be               mind               games               on               his               part               to               see               if               the               current               bottom               three               teams               or               so               have               much               Norwich               City               about               them.

I               personally               don't               think               that               they               do,               particularly               Queens               Park               Rangers,               Reading               and               Southampton.

It's               a               bit               harder               to               analyze               the               problems               Sunderland               and               Aston               Villa               have,               and               Wigan               will               be               pleased               enough               with               the               start               of               the               season.
Nevertheless,               it               would               be               a               surprise               if               all               seven               of               those               teams               weren't               involved               in               the               relegation               shake-up               at               the               end               of               the               season.

Norwich               City's               main               goal               has               to               be               to               finish               on               top               of               that               mini-league               and               any               other               team               that               is               dragged               into               it.
Predictions               are               always               a               little               bit               difficult               because               of               the               looming               presence               of               the               January               transfer               window.

It               is               made               even               harder               by               the               fact               that               all               three               of               the               current               teams               in               the               relegation               zone               have               wealthy               enough               backing               to               consider               an               influx               of               players.
What               I               will               say               is               that               neither               of               the               strugglers               look               capable               of               surviving               under               their               current               squad               and               formula.

It               may               be               true               to               say               that               their               problems               are               all               slightly               different,               but               the               lack               of               league               wins               is               a               common               problem,               especially               seeing               as               they               have               so               far               managed               just               one               between               them.
Thinking               back               to               last               season,               it               is               clearly               that               it               was               the               promotion               momentum               that               played               a               crucial               part               in               keeping               the               Canaries               in               the               Premier               League.

I               think               it's               fair               to               say               that               a               lot               of               that               momentum               has               now               dissipated               from               the               team.

However,               I               would               add               that               the               spirit               is               still               alive               and               well,               which               has               been               shown               in               the               team's               last               four               league               games.
Nevertheless,               spirit               aside,               I               think               it               will               be               the               Premier               League               quality               in               the               side               that               serves               to               keep               the               team               in               the               top-flight               this               time.

Players               like               John               Ruddy,               Sebastien               Bassong,               Javier               Garrido,               Alexander               Tettey,               Wes               Hoolahan               and               Grant               Holt               will               play               a               vital               part.
I               like               Reading               a               lot               and               have               a               huge               amount               of               respect               for               Brian               McDermott,               who               I               rate               as               one               of               the               very               best               coaches               in               the               game               today.

However,               he               faces               a               very               tough               task               to               keep               his               side               in               the               Premier               League.

A               slow               start               to               a               league               campaign               may               not               be               a               new               experience               for               his               club,               but               recovering               in               the               Premier               League               is               far               harder               than               in               the               Championship.
And               he               will               know               that               the               longer               he               goes               on               without               a               league               win,               the               harder               the               job               will               get.

Judging               by               some               of               the               comments               that               the               Reading               players               are               making,               there               appears               to               be               plenty               of               confidence               in               the               team.
Before               the               home               game               against               Norwich,               they               were               spouting               about               the               need               to               secure               a               home               win.

Of               course,               the               game               itself               finished               0-0,               but               that               doesn't               seem               to               have               changed               much               because               since               the               game               they               have               been               talking               about               how               they               deserved               to               win.
Speaking               with               my               yellow               and               green               hat               on,               I               might               claim               that               it               was               the               Canaries               that               deserved               all               three               points.

But               I'm               honest               enough               to               admit               that               this               was               a               dire               game               that               neither               side               deserved               to,               or               showed               enough               ambition               to               win.
Therefore,               I               would               worry               that               the               Reading               players               might               be               a               little               bit               complacent               about               their               position               and               believe               their               ability               to               turn               it               around.

Of               course,               this               is,               arguably,               better               than               the               attitude               that               suggests               that               they               are               doomed               no               matter               what               they               do.
However,               you               can               only               go               along               with               the               ultra-positive               outlook               for               so               long.

I               think               at               some               point;               the               club               has               to               pick               up               points,               rather               than               just               saying               that               they               deserve               to.

I               see               that               their               goalkeeper,               Adam               Federici,               is               reluctant               to               see               an               influx               of               new               players               in               the               January               transfer               window               that               could               destroy               team               spirit.
In               most               cases,               I               agree               with               such               a               statement,               but               I               think               in               Reading's               case               they               don't               have               a               lot               of               choice.

Any               momentum               they               had               from               the               Championship               seems               to               have               quickly               disappeared,               and               they               need               to               start               picking               up               wins               sooner               rather               than               later.
What               they               really               need               is               some               true               Premier               League               quality,               but               they               should               tread               carefully               because               QPR               have               proved               that               top-flight               quality               is               no               guarantee               of               success.

Although,               I               do               think               it               is               the               quality               in               the               Norwich               squad               that               will               separate               them               from               the               bottom               pack.
I               have               great               respect               for               whatever               our               manager,               Chris               Hughton,               has               to               say,               but               I               simply               don't               agree               that               the               Canaries               are               the               same               as               everyone               else.

I               think               there               are               some               special               qualities               within               the               camp               that               other               clubs               don't               have.
The               January               transfer               window               will               certainly               offer               an               opportunity               for               the               Premier               League               strugglers,               but               I               would               rather               have               the               points               on               the               board               than               the               money               in               the               bank.

The               upcoming               transfer               window               seldom               offers               values               for               money,               and               it's               very               difficult               to               integrate               new               players               into               the               team               so               quickly.
Therefore,               I               feel               the               current               bottom               three               have               their               work               cut               out               to               save               them.

In               any               case,               I'm               confident               Chris               Hughton's               will               keep               Norwich               in               the               top-flight,               even               if               he               can't               personally               add               to               his               squad               in               January.
James               Kent               has               been               a               Norwich               City               fan               for               a               number               of               years;               he               is               currently               enjoying               the               new               Premier               League               season,               follow               him               on               Twitter               and               Facebook.
