About 'latest transfer news of chelsea'|Latest Transfer News! Anelka is Chelsea for £15 Million








               English               Premier               League               Review               -               Week               9
               The               game               of               the               year               at               Old               Trafford               was               a               stunner.

Few               people               would               have               predicted               a               final               score               of               6-1,               and               fewer               still               would               have               predicted               Manchester               City               would               be               the               winners.

The               way               Manchester               United               simply               gave               up               in               the               final               few               minutes               was               disgraceful               -               there               can               be               no               other               way               to               describe               it.

It               was               the               worst               home               loss               for               United               in               EPL               history               and               the               first               time               they've               given               up               six               goals               at               home               in               81               years.

Certainly               the               sending               off               of               Johnny               Evans               just               one               minute               into               the               second               half               was               a               factor,               but               ManU               was               still               in               the               game               when               Darren               Fletcher's               lovely               strike               cut               the               City               lead               to               3-1               with               ten               minutes               left.

City               soon               put               an               end               to               any               thoughts               ManU               had               of               a               comeback.

Substitute               Edin               Dzeko               tallied               twice               and               David               Silva               scored               another               in               the               final               five               minutes,               as               United               seemingly               laid               down.

Mario               Balotelli               had               an               outstanding               day               for               City,               scoring               twice,               and               a               typical               beautiful               passing               display               led               to               Sergio               Aguero's               goal               that               made               it               3-0               midway               through               the               second               half.

Man               City               is               now               five               points               clear               of               United               at               the               top               of               the               table.

The               question               must               be               asked               -               has               the               torch               been               passed?
               It               is               a               difficult               task               for               any               team               to               play               a               man               down               on               the               road.

Playing               two               men               down               is               next               to               impossible.

That               was               the               task               facing               Chelsea               at               Loftus               Road               against               Queens               Park               Rangers.

They               lost               Jose               Bosingwa               in               the               33rd               minute               and               Didier               Drogba               eight               minutes               later.

All               this               was               after               Chelsea               conceded               a               penalty               that               Heidar               Helguson               converted               after               ten               minutes.

The               Blues               were               awarded               seven               yellow               cards               in               addition               to               the               two               reds.

Given               all               that,               Chelsea               played               a               spirited               second               half               and               was               the               more               likely               team               to               score.
               Rafael               van               der               Vaart               scored               a               brace               at               Ewood               Park               and               Blackburn               Rovers               remained               in               the               relegation               zone               after               a               2-1               defeat               to               the               Spurs.

Luka               Modric               was               the               best               player               on               the               pitch,               leading               Spurs               attack.

Tottenham               moved               up               to               fifth               place               in               the               table               with               a               game               in               hand.
               Arsene               Wenger               decided               to               give               Robert               Van               Persie               a               rest               at               the               start               of               their               game               at               the               Emirates               against               Stoke               City.

Wisely,               he               brought               Van               Persie               into               a               1-1               match               (Gervinho               with               the               goal               for               Arsenal,               Peter               Crouch               the               equalizer               for               Stoke)               midway               through               the               second               half,               and               Van               Persie               again               showed               his               class,               scoring               twice               to               provide               the               Gunners               with               a               3-1               victory.
               Bolton               remarkably               has               now               lost               all               five               of               its               home               games               this               season.

The               latest               was               Saturday               when               Sunderland               scored               two               late               goals               for               a               deserved               2-0               victory.

No               wonder               the               Wanderers               are               stuck               in               the               relegation               zone,               with               the               worst               goal               difference               in               the               league               at               minus               12.

Stephane               Sessegnon               scored               in               the               82nd               minute               and               Nicolas               Bendtner               added               the               clincher               deep               in               stoppage               time               to               move               Sunderland               up               to               12th               in               the               table.

An               indication               of               how               much               Steve               Bruce's               squad               dominated               was               corner               kicks               -               Sunderland               had               11               to               only               2               for               Bolton.
               Plucky               underdog               Norwich               held               Liverpool               to               a               1-1               draw               at               Anfield.

The               Canaries               spent               a               large               part               of               the               day               carving               up               a               suspect               Liverpool               defense               and               were               rewarded               on               the               hour               mark               when               substitute               Grant               Holt               scored               only               three               minutes               after               entering               the               game.

It               was               Bellamy's               first               start               for               the               Reds               since               May               of               2007.

Norwich               was               one               of               many               former               teams               for               Bellamy,               who               has               played               for               more               teams               than               I               can               count.

In               all               fairness,               Liverpool               did               smack               the               post               three               times               with               nothing               to               show               for               it,               Andy               Carroll               sent               a               header               inches               wide               near               the               end,               and               Luis               Suarez               was               denied               on               a               great               save               by               John               Ruddy               deep               into               stoppage               time.
               At               halftime               of               Wolverhampton's               game               at               Molineux               against               Swansea,               the               home               fans               booed               the               Wolves               and               manager               Mick               McCarthy               off               the               pitch.

Swansea               was               up               2-0,               thanks               to               goals               by               Danny               Graham               and               Joe               Allen,               and               the               Wolves               offered               little               resistance.

Not               much               changed               for               most               of               the               second               half,               and               many               fans               started               to               leave               with               ten               minutes               left.

Some               stopped               in               the               aisle               when               Kevin               Doyle               scored               to               make               it               2-1               in               the               84th               minute,               and               they               were               back               at               their               seats               roaring               in               approval               when               Jamie               O'Hara               tied               it               two               minutes               later.

The               attitude               in               the               stands               and               on               the               pitch               had               completely               turned,               and               the               Wolves               were               unlucky               not               to               escape               with               all               three               points.

The               result               could               have               saved               McCarthy               his               job.
               After               losing               their               first               three               matches,               West               Bromwich               Albion               has               taken               11               points               from               their               last               six               games.

Their               solid               play               continued               with               a               2-1               victory               over               Aston               Villa.

The               key               to               the               match               was               a               very               questionable               red               card               given               to               Chris               Herd               of               Villa               on               35               minutes.

At               the               time,               Villa               led               1-0               on               a               Darren               Bent               penalty.

Chris               Brunt               smashed               the               ensuing               PK               wide,               but               West               Brom               tied               the               score               just               before               halftime               on               a               Jonas               Olssen               strike,               then               won               it               in               the               second               half               when               Paul               Scharner               scored.
               Newcastle               ran               their               unbeaten               streak               to               11               in               all               competitions               with               a               1-0               triumph               over               lowly               Wigan               at               St.

James'               Park.

Yohan               Cabaye               scored               his               first               goal               for               Newcastle               since               his               transfer               from               Lille               in               the               81st               minute               to               decide               a               sloppy               and               uninspired               contest.

Wigan               slumped               to               its               sixth               straight               defeat.
               Lastly,               Fulham               muddled               through               another               defeat,               this               time               falling               to               Everton               at               Craven               Cottage.

Royston               Drenthe               stunned               Fulham               with               a               thunderous               blast               from               25               yards               out               only               three               minutes               into               the               game.

Substitute               Bryan               Ruiz               scored               his               first               goal               for               Fulham               midway               through               the               second               half,               and               it               looked               like               the               contest               would               end               in               a               draw.

Then               Bobby               Zamora               deked               Everton               keeper               Tim               Howard               and               had               an               open               net,               but               blasted               high               and               wide               with               only               two               minutes               left               in               the               contest.

Louis               Saha               made               him               pay               with               a               goal               at               the               other               end               only               seconds               later,               and               Jack               Rodwell               sealed               the               deal               deep               into               stoppage               time               for               a               3-1               Everton               win.
               This               was               an               interesting               week               in               the               Premier               League               as               the               top               of               the               table               got               a               jolt.

The               big               news               came               out               of               Manchester,               but               there               was               a               lot               of               action               throughout               London.

The               stars               of               the               league               continue               to               shine               for               the               big               clubs,               while               the               promoted               teams               are               still               hanging               in               the               middle               of               the               pack.

We               are               now               a               quarter               of               the               way               through               the               season               and               it               has               been               an               exciting               ride               thus               far.

The               big               game               in               the               upcoming               week               takes               place               in               London               with               Arsenal               traveling               to               Stamford               bridge               to               take               on               the               Blues.

                   2012               was               an               interesting               and               even               somewhat               of               a               tumultuous               calendar               year               for               Tottenham               Hotspur.

    Perceived               by               some               as               legitimate               title               contenders               back               at               the               start               of               January,               Spurs               fell               to               fourth               in               the               league               table               before               losing               out               on               Champions               League               thanks               to               Chelsea.

    Manager               Harry               Redknapp               was               sacked               and               ultimately               replaced               by               former               Chelsea               boss               Andre               Villas-Boas,               and               Tottenham               are               again               in               a               Champions               League               spot               in               the               table               after               somewhat               of               a               slow               start               to               the               AVB               era.

    They               also               advanced               past               the               group               stage               of               Europa               League               play.
                   

                   Things               could               be               worse.
                   

                   2012               Tottenham               Hotspur               midseason               review:               MVP
                   

                   Gareth               Bale               is               once               again               the               best               overall               player               in               the               Tottenham               team,               but               I               have               to               go               with               Jan               Vertonghen               for               this               particular               award.

    The               former               Ajax               man               who               joined               Spurs               over               the               summer               has               been               the               most               (and               possibly               the               only)               consistent               defender               in               the               team               throughout               the               first               half               of               the               campaign,               routinely               allowing               me               to               forget               that               Tottenham               have               been               without               both               Younes               Kaboul               and               Benoit               Assou-Ekotto.

    He's               also               found               the               back               of               the               net               twice               in               the               first               season               of               his               Spurs               career.
                   

                   The               25-year               old               Belgium               international               appears               to               be               the               new               cornerstone               of               a               Tottenham               back               line               that               lost               Ledley               King               to               retirement               following               the               2011-12               season.

    Vertonghen,               Steven               Caulker,               Kyle               Naughton,               Kyle               Walker               (more               on               him               later)               and               the               on-loan               Danny               Rose               offer               plenty               of               promise               for               the               future               of               the               Spurs               defense.

    It               also               doesn't               hurt               to               have               a               world               class               goalkeeper               such               as               Hugo               Lloris               out               on               the               pitch.

                   He's               one               of               the               better               young               defenders               in               the               league               when               at               his               best,               but               it               would               be               dishonest               to               suggest               that               2012               has               been               a               kind               year               to               Kyle               Walker.

    What               was               thought               to               be               a               run               of               poor               form               last               spring               continued               for               the               Tottenham               right               back               this               fall,               and               many               Tottenham               supporters               viewed               Walker               as               the               main               villain               following               the               team's               4-2               loss               to               Chelsea               in               October.

    His               struggles               have               even               gotten               to               the               point               that               I've               wondered               if               Villas-Boas               dropping               Walker               from               the               team               for               even               a               match               or               two               wouldn't               be               best               for               all               involved.

                   2012               Tottenham               Hotspur               midseason               review:               AVB's               grade
                   

                   The               start               of               the               season               was               a               bit               nervy               for               Tottenham               supporters               as               Villas-Boas               and               his               squad               worked               on               their               chemistry,               and               Spurs               losing               both               Luka               Modric               and               Rafael               van               der               Vaart               during               the               transfer               window               certainly               didn't               help               matters.

    Players               and               manager               alike               adapted               as               the               season               progressed,               however,               and               Villas-Boas               eventually               settled               on               a               first               choice               goalkeeper               (Lloris               over               Brad               Friedel)               and               a               starting               eleven               that's               capable               of               hanging               with               any               other               side               in               the               EPL.

    Villas-Boas               will               also               have               Spurs               playing               in               at               least               two               additional               Europa               League               games,               something               that               never               interested               the               previously               mentioned               Redknapp.
                   

                   I               won't               pretend               that               AVB               has               been               flawless               since               taking               over               at               Spurs,               but               even               his               biggest               critics               have               to               admit               that               Tottenham               sure               look               like               a               top-four               side               at               the               end               of               December.

    Aaron               Lennon               is               perhaps               playing               the               best               football               of               his               career               under               his               new               boss,               and               Jermain               Defoe               is               on               pace               to               score               over               20               goals               across               all               competitions.

    One               could               argue               that               the               mark               is               either               a               bit               harsh               or               a               little               too               generous,               but               I               have               no               problem               giving               Villas-Boas               a               B+               thus               far.
                   

                   2012               Tottenham               Hotspur               midseason               review:               Overall
                   

                   Usually               you               can               read               teams               by               this               stage               of               the               season.

    United,               City               and               Chelsea               are               all               capable               of               finishing               in               the               top               three,               while               QPR,               Reading,               Southampton,               Aston               Villa               and               Wigan               all               appear               to               be               headed               toward               relegation               battles.

    Perhaps               the               most               frustrating               thing               about               Spurs               right               now               is               that               I'm               still               not               sure               what               to               think               about               this               team's               quality.

    Are               they               a               middle-of-the-road               side               that               will               struggle               to               defeat               the               likes               of               City,               Arsenal,               Stoke               and               even               Newcastle,               or               are               they               really               a               Champions               League               team               that's               finally               finding               their               form?

    I               honestly               cannot               adequately               answer               that               question               right               now,               and               that               makes               me               both               nervous               and               excited               about               what               is               to               come.

                   English               Premier               League               Review               -               Week               2
                   Although               the               first               weekend               of               games               created               plenty               of               talking               points               midweek,               the               big               news               was               the               transfer               (finally)               of               Cesc               Fabregas               to               Barcelona.

    Fabregas               is               a               tremendous               player               who               is               going               to               thrive               coming               off               the               bench               with               highly               technical               players               around               him.

    The               Premier               League               was               too               tough               a               league,               Arsenal               not               talented               enough,               and               they               received               a               handsome               fee               for               his               services.

    The               question               is               what               moves               Arsenal               will               look               to               make               with               a               rapidly               approached               end               to               the               transfer               window               (http://bit.ly/neQ0A0)               and               all               the               cash               they               received               for               Fabregas.

    Another               one               of               the               Gunners'               best               players,               Samir               Nasri,               is               also               the               rumors               of               an               imminent               transfer.
                   As               some               may               already               know,               I               am               trying               to               set               the               stage               for               the               biggest               game               of               the               weekend               -               Liverpool               at               Arsenal.

    While               Nasri               (surprisingly)               received               the               start               for               an               extremely               young               side,               who               got               younger               after               17               minutes               when               one               of               their               center               backs,               Laurent               Koscielny,               left               the               game               with               a               back               injury.

    He               was               replaced               by               18               year               old               Spaniard               Ignasi               Miguel,               making               his               premier               league               debut.

    Liverpool               started               a               defensive               unit               and               after               a               decent               start,               spent               a               large               majority               of               the               game               in               their               back               third.

    Until               the               71st               minute               when               one               the               Arsenal               youngsters,               Emmanuel               Frimpong,               received               his               second               yellow               and               got               his               marching               orders               in               his               first               Premier               League               match.

    Liverpool,               sensing               blood               at               being               up               a               man,               subbed               in               Luis               Suarez               and               Raul               Meireles               to               kick-start               the               offense.

    After               an               incredibly               unlucky               own               goal               by               Arsenal               put               Liverpool               up               1-0,               the               Reds               finished               the               job               by               scoring               a               clinical               goal               in               the               91st               minute.

    Arsenal               have               received               a               red               card               in               each               game               this               year,               while               not               scoring               a               goal.

    As               a               Liverpool               fan,               this               was               a               huge               win.

    Now               all               we               need               to               do               is               get               Suarez               fit               to               play               90               minutes               of               every               game               and               figure               out               a               way               to               get               something               out               of               his               strikepartner               up               top.

    Andy               Carroll               so               far               has               proven               to               be               not               much               more               than               a               big               body               up               front               for               Liverpool.

    He               needs               to               start               to               make               some               positive               contributions.
                   Other               Saturday               games               saw               Newcastle               take               a               hard-fought               1-0               victory               over               Sunderland.

    Joey               Barton               again               played               instigator               and               Sunderland               could               not               take               advantage               of               their               possession               dominance.

    Aston               Villa               got               a               nice               win               over               Blackburn               with               goals               from               Agbonlahor,               Heskey               and               Darren               Bent.

    The               key               to               Villa's               season               is               getting               support               around               Bent               and               if               this               game               is               any               indication,               they               could               be               on               to               something.

    Swansea               and               Wigan               played               to               a               0-0               draw               (enough               said).

    After               an               early               scare,               Chelsea               got               a               pair               of               goals               (Anelka,               Malouda)               to               win               their               home               debut               and               got               Villas-Boas               his               first               victory.

    The               big               upset               of               the               day               came               at               Goodison               Park               where               QPR,               fresh               off               a               4-0               drubbing               last               week,               got               a               great               win               against               an               Everton               side               who               looked               sluggish               and               felt               the               pain               of               a               couple               difficult               referee               decisions               and               a               terrible               miss               by               Tim               Cahill.
                   Sunday's               games               took               the               excitement               up               a               notch,               starting               at               Carrow               Road               where               Norwich               took               a               1-0               first               half               lead               over               Stoke,               but               were               on               the               receiving               end               of               a               tough               red               card.

    But,               as               it               usually               happens               when               a               team               is               jobbed,               John               Ruddy               came               up               with               a               huge               save               on               the               penalty.

    Unfortunately,               for               the               Canaries,               Kenwyne               Jones               showed               why               he               is               the               most               feared               striker               in               the               air               and               headed               in               a               cross               at               the               death               (91st               minute).

    A               tough               pill               to               swallow               for               Norwich,               but               the               fans               had               to               be               happy               with               the               performance               on               the               home               opener.

    Wolves               got               another               win               and               sit               atop               the               table               with               the               two               teams               from               Manchester               after               they               scored               two               goals               within               four               minutes               in               the               first               half               against               a               lethargic               Fulham               squad.
